There are many poker chips available on the market today. Not only can a prospective buyer choose the type of chips that they want; they can also choose the type of case, type of dealer button, and brand of cards. There are a lot of options available to today’s poker chip set buyer.

So what does a poker chips set consist of? Basically it should have 2 decks of cards, a dealer button, 5 dice and a case. The case you choose will depend on whether you are taking your set to different places or just keeping it at home.

If your poker set is staying home, I’d go with the swanky poker chip display boxes. Some of these poker chip sets look like pieces of fine furniture. They’re generally made of high quality wood and have a glass top to show off your poker chips. Drawers swing open to reveal little areas for your card decks and dealer button to rest. These sets tend to be expensive not only because of the high quality of wood used for them, but because you’re going to want to have high quality clay chips in this beauty. I mean, who shows off composite chips?

Then again, if you are going to different poker games a good carrying case is something you will need. Sometimes when you buy a poker chips set you will find that a case is included. So what are your choices for a carrying case? There are a few plastic one out there but the majority of them are wood or aluminum.

Of course wood will look beautiful but although it looks pretty aluminum is more durable and practical. This is because wood can get damaged easily and soon looks shabby.

Aluminum is much more durable and while it can end up with scratches and dents, an aluminum case is much cheaper to replace than a high quality wood set.

If you are a serious poker player you will need a poker chips set. However before you decide which one to get you need to think whether you will be keeping your set at home or traveling. Then you can select the cards and chips you need in your set and the right carrying case.
