When you are ready to invest in a Boston Terrier for your family, and you intend to buy one from a Boston Terrier breeder, you need to be sure that you are dealing with a real dog breeder and not a fake trying to scam you. If you buy from a fake breeder you could be forced to put your family through expensive vet bills and tough decisions because you were sold an unhealthy pet by a fake breeder.

A sure way to spot a out the fake Boston Terrier breeder from the legitimate ones is to ask about free pet insurance, for use after you bring your Boston Terrier home. Legitimate breeders are offered free pet insurance to give to buyers that extends for six weeks after the sale in the hopes that you will extend the insurance after the six weeks is up. If you breeder is not willing to give you signed proof of insurance, or if you check out the insurance and it is not valid, you probably have a fake breeder.

Good breeders do not just disappear from your life as soon as the sale is over. Legitimate Boston Terrier breeders are part of you and your dog’s life for a long time after the purchase because it is the breeder’s name on your dog’s papers and their reputation on the line along with the life of your pet. If you find it impossible to get a hold of your breeder after the purchase, or your breeder can offer you no assistance or advice after the purchase, then the chances are you are dealing with a dishonest breeder.

For first time Boston Terrier owners the breeders are an invaluable resource in finding out the correct care and feeding instructions for your new pet. The legitimate breeders build their business based on their good reputation and it is important for them to be as helpful as possible. The good breeders will send home samples of food that should be fed to your new Boston Terrier so that you know what you are supposed to be feeding your dog. If your breeder is not offering any care or feeding instructions then you probably have a fake breeder.

There is nothing more important to your breeder for his business than his reputation for providing quality animals and being as professional as possible.

If you maintain contact with your Boston Terrier breeder, and you find that you cannot keep your dog later in its life, then the legitimate breeder will take the dog back from you, but without offering a refund. This way you at least know your dog will be taken care of. Fake breeders will usually not do this.

Unfortunately if you have purchased your Boston Terrier from a fake breeder then there is not much you can do beyond suing the breeder to get your money back. You are encouraged to report the breeder to the American Kennel Club or whatever breeder registry they are listed with but in all reality there is not a lot they can do to make your situation right.

If you find yourself in a position where a fake breeder has scammed you contact your attorney to find out if you have any course of action.
