You have many treatment options if you are suffering from anxiety. But anti anxiety medication gives you immediate relief even if you are unable to attend your daily chores.

For general anxiety, non-medication treatments and counseling are enough. But if your anxiety has become chronic and the diagnoses recommends medication, then you need anti anxiety medication.

Anti anxiety medication provides you almost instant relaxation. But this isn’t a complete cure because it doesn’t touch the root cause. Until you treat the root cause, you won’t be all right permanently.

However, discover here some excellent anti anxiety medications…

Azaspirones

If you have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, these are the best medications. But they work at slower pace. They take 2 to 4 weeks. The advantage is you won’t have side effects.

Benzodiazepines

If you are suffering from panic disorder besides general anxiety and social phobia, these are excellent. You will have immediate relief but you feel drowsy and become dependent. So I don’t recommend them for long-term use.

Beta Blockers

These will control adrenaline flow in your blood. And then they calm down palpitations, shaking and sweating etc. But the problem is they also reduce blood pressure and slow the heartbeat. So you’d better talk to your doctor about the entire picture frequently.

Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)

These are the widely used medicines now. They helps you with panic disorder, depression, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and other challenges. But you also have some common side-effects like nausea, sexual difficulties and nervousness.

MonoAmine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)

If you have a mix of anxiety and depression and failed to respond to some of the common drugs, these will help you. But the draw back with these drugs is they interact with many different foods and medications.

And finally, use these anti anxiety medications in combination with other therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. Then you can root out the anxiety disorder.
