When women are pregnant, they often find themselves not only dealing with their pregnancy but also with anxiety and panic. There is a reason for this happening.
While pregnant, the woman’s body is full of hormones in overdrive. Sometimes the changes in hormones trigger the anxiety and panic attacks to occur. Remember every part of the mother’s body is affected by pregnancy.
Pregnancy can also be very stressful for some women. This can contribute to anxiety attacks. If the pregnancy was not planned, the woman may feel very worried or panicked about what will happen.
When I was pregnant, I seemed to be most worried about what was going to happen during the birth process and I was also worried about being a good mother. I was lucky as my extra anxiety and panic was considered by my doctor as being normal.
Anxiety and panic attacks are more common in the last months of pregnancy. Some women find however that if they had attacks before pregnancy that they lessen while they are pregnant. No one knows why this occurs. They think it is due to the fluctuating hormones.
If you find you are one of the women to have anxiety and panic attacks while pregnant there are things you can do to help stop them from happening. Medications can be harmful to your developing baby. One of these natural methods of treatment will be more suited for you.
* Deep breathing - Deep breathing techniques can be very helpful with stress and anxiety or panic attacks. With this technique, when you first feel an attack coming on, lie down and start breathing through your nose, taking several deep breaths and blow them out through your mouth. You should do this until you feel the attack going away.
* Therapy- if you find you cannot relax it might help to talk to someone about your feelings. It is normal to feel anxious and scared about becoming a new mother. It can also help to talk over your fears with someone. It will help you to see your concerns are normal and put your mind at ease.
* Therapy - You might consider finding a professional to talk to about your feelings, especially if you find that no matter what you do you can not relax. It is normal to be anxious and afraid about becoming a new mother and it really helps to talk about those fears with another person. Most of the time, you will be reassured that your feelings are totally normal for a woman who is pregnant.
If you suffer repeated panic or anxiety attacks it is important that you seek aid. You are not the first person to be in this position and there are many services standing by to help you promote the health of yourself and your baby.
Also for women who are pregnant, their husbands may also be prone to anxiety and panic attacks. Becoming a new father can be very stressful and your husband or significant other may be extremely worried about supporting the new child and if the both of you can afford a new baby.
These worries can lead to excess anxiety. The excess anxiety can lead to anxiety or panic attacks. Men will be the last to admit when there is something bothering them.
Pregnancy is a wonderful and magical thing, and it’s something best shared rather than stressed over. Talk to your partner about your worries and fears, and you might find that your anxiety is less overwhelming when it is shared. However, if this advice has not improved your condition, seek professional treatment.
